5 months later….
Life has been amazing at St Hugh's Catholic Church. The whole thing has been really. I stopped because the blog I didn't want to call into the potential trap of using religion only to inform my writing. It has to be something you feel. I do and have and as a consequence can write far more about the journey. It’s knowing just where to start.
I’m in at least. Fully confirmed and committed as a member of the Catholic Church. Unexpectedly I confessed three big things beforehand. One that I never think of - from twenty years ago, one continual and more recent sin and another being a former incident. None of these weigh particularly on my mind but I knew if I didn’t confess them I would come to regret it. Things needed to be done properly this end.
Father Eddy was excellent, glossed nicely over things and I was in for the Maundy Thursday feet washing. I put my name down but mistaken cast myself as the humble Jesus without realising of course, the priest plays Jesus so I ended up on an unexpected ego trip!
Since my previous writing I have attended a lot at this church aside from my RCIA meetings. They did a St Patrick’s Day meal and drinks which Tori brought Matilda too and of course Stickers came along as well and we had a great time.
The Franciscan Sisters of Renewal held an amazing day at the other church, ‘Our Lady’. Called “How to be Mary in a Martha World” - Highly recommended
Meanwhile Veronica and I are the best of friends and see one another online twice a week.
Things are going great in the church and one couldn’t be happier, I’ve read loads of books, The Imitation of Christ (ok I’m flicking through that one at random), Evelyn Waugh’s Edmund Campion, Francis de Sales How to live a devout life, plus lots of the Bible.
I’m still listening to the pray as you go app and just can’t imagine my life any other way.
It really is remarkable that I wasn’t always like this, except I was of course. Just didn’t ‘have’ anywhere. But I did have God
Now I have Jesus and Mary. I had Jesus before, we all have Jesus. And the Holy Spirit, I made a leaflet about the Holy Spirit. I’ll share it and do more writing now.
